Kids' artificial grass soccer shoes
Many youth soccer fields in Canada are synthetic turf. An AG outsole, with its shorter and more numerous studs, gives better grip there and is gentler on a young player's joints — the detail most parents overlook at purchase time.
Why it matters for a child
On turf, the fibres don't give the way soil does. Long studs scrape instead of penetrating: they wear out faster and the foot can stick during a pivot. For a young player whose joints are still developing, a more progressive grip is preferable.
AG or turf (TT)?
The AG outsole targets long-fibre turf. The TT outsole, with its small rubber nubs, suits older fields, short-pile surfaces and hard ground better. TT also works very well for late-season outdoor training.
Size: recheck every season
Leave about 1 cm in front of the big toe — enough for a few months of growth, without the foot swimming. Measure both feet at the end of the day, go with the larger one and try them on with real soccer socks. Our guide walks through the method: getting the size right.
Making the pair last
Rinse the shoes after games to remove rubber crumb, let them air-dry — never on a radiator — and keep your child from walking on the parking lot asphalt in them. That's often where studs round off fastest.
