Soccer goalkeeper gloves
The right goalkeeper glove comes down to four things: the cut, the latex, finger protection and the size. Here you'll find 180+ models, from an entry-level junior glove to a competition model, from the reference brands: Reusch, RG Goalkeeper, Uhlsport, Puma, HO Soccer and Storelli.
The cut: negative, roll finger, flat or hybrid
The cut sets how the palm meets the ball. A negative cut hugs the hand closely for maximum touch — favoured by technical keepers. Roll finger wraps around the finger and increases the contact surface. The flat cut (also called regular cut) is the most classic and versatile. The hybrid cut blends several approaches. If you're unsure, flat or hybrid is the safest starting point.
Latex and grip
Grip comes from the palm, and latex wears out: the softer it is, the better the grip — but the faster it goes. That's why competitive keepers often keep a match pair and a training pair. On a wet ball, a latex built for damp weather makes all the difference.
Fingersave: do you need it?
Fingersave adds spines that limit backward hyperextension of the fingers on a powerful save. Useful for young keepers and those coming back from injury; some experienced keepers prefer to go without for more flexibility. Many models offer removable spines — the best of both worlds.
What glove size?
Size is based on the width of your hand, not your shoe size. Measure your palm and add about one centimetre at the fingertips. Our goalkeeper glove size guide has the full chart, sizes 4 to 11.
By level and age
For a young keeper, a soft junior model with fingersave and durable latex is plenty. For competition, step up to premium German latex (Reusch, RG, Uhlsport) and plan a second training pair.

Making your gloves last
Rinse the palm in lukewarm water after each match, let it air-dry — never in the sun or on a radiator — and keep the latex slightly damp before play to maximize grip. Good care easily doubles the life of a pair.
