Li-Ning and Way of Wade — low, mid or high top

Basketball shoes

The right basketball shoe comes down to three things: cut height, cushioning and traction. Our collection features Li-Ning and the famous Way of Wade line, designed with Dwyane Wade, for players of every level.

Cut height: low, mid or high

A high top supports the ankle, a reassuring choice for interior players (positions 4-5) and those prone to sprains. A low top, lighter, favours the speed and direction changes of guards and wings. The mid top balances the two.

Cushioning

Basketball is all jumps and stops: good cushioning under the heel and forefoot protects the joints and returns energy on landing. The more often you play, the more cushioning matters.

Court traction

A herringbone rubber outsole grips the floor for sharp stops and sure pivots. Keep the sole clean — dust reduces traction. These shoes are made for indoor courts; on outdoor asphalt, the rubber wears out faster.

The size

A basketball shoe is worn snug for lateral lockdown, with a little room at the toes. Try them on with your game socks and make a few cuts to check the heel doesn't slip.

What cut height should I choose for basketball?

High top for ankle support, favoured by interior players and those prone to sprains. Low top for the speed and direction changes of guards and wings. The mid top balances support and mobility.

What is Way of Wade?

It's Li-Ning's signature line designed with Dwyane Wade. Known for its cushioning and build quality, it's popular with both competitive players and performance-sneaker fans.

Can you wear basketball shoes outdoors?

They're made for indoor courts. On outdoor asphalt, the outsole rubber wears out much faster. If you play mostly outside, look for a model with a tougher outdoor sole.

Does cushioning matter?

Yes. Basketball is all jumps and stops; good cushioning under the heel and forefoot protects the joints and returns energy. The more often you play, the more it matters.

How do you pick the size?

Snug for lateral lockdown, with a little room at the toes. Try them on with your game socks and make a few cuts to check the heel doesn't slip during direction changes.
